On February 13 2008 a group of Hunting Retriever Test enthusiasts met in Albany New York to discuss the problems they are facing today. Land resources are diminishing, fewer people are participating in the hobby, less workers available, no recognition for Junior and Senior dogs as there is for the Master Dog as an example. The need for a strong voice and combined resources are needed today. A similar federation (Northeast Federation for Hunting Retrievers) was created in 1986 which lead the way to the AKC Hunting Retriever Test program.Smile

"Ideas, Ideas, Ideas" Guy is looking for input about doing a federation Invitational for Junior and Senior dogs, He needs ideas about when, where and how to make it successful. Please call Guy Fornuto (631 979 0873) with any input and all ideas. Remember we have a photo page to showcase your dogs. We have a guest page to sign in and leave thoughts, suggestions and any thing you feel will help make the federation successful.

  • At present every one is welcome to join the group, there are no dues being collected. We are hoping as word spreads Dog clubs interested in supporting the future of Hunting Retriever tests in the Northeast join and help fund our endeavors

This is a very important time if we want our sport to continue. If we don't band together and get a strong voice now, we mean now, we will never be heard. This federation can be a strong voice and take the lead to have us heard. We need members no members no voice. Please go back to your club memberships and tell them how imprtant it is to have them join this fight. Please have your President or even appoint a federation delegate to contact us. So we can build a stong front of clubs so, the people that affect our sport will take us seriously and hear our voice loud and clear. There are no fees to make this happen. As we list our members and clubs on the web site it becomes clear we are serious. So the few that see this site need to pass this on. Be responsible and help our sport, continue and thrive.   Call Guy Fornuto 631979 0873

Where we are

  1. The Federation is proceding with plans for a Junior and Senior Invitational
  2. Talks are starting with using Cabela's property for events
  3. The Long Island Golden Retriever Club hosted an AKC judges seminar on Staurday June 21st 2008 and an informal hands on seminar the next day.
  4. Any club wishing to hold the same type of event can contact Guy Fornuto, for help in getting it off the ground.
